She wants to...So you see, your friend is different. She wants to be kept. I'm not talking about such people. I'm talking about legitimate stay-at-home mums. Don't taint them all with your impression of your friend.

In this day and age, of course its imperative that even when the mum stays at home, it doesn't impact negatively on the family's standard of living. Modern life being what it is, there are so many ways for women to be stay at home mums but have a career from home.

Oh and by the way, I have absolutely no problem with stay at home dads. If my income can keep us in the desired standard of living, fine. If not, if he can find a way to supplement my income from home and bake cookies for the kids' four o'clock tea, fine.

And what do you mean the man did something useful while he was working for Wall Street but not while he was designing jewellery/shoes. Wewe, hiyo white-collar-jobs-are-the-only-jobs mentality uwache nyuma. Wira ni wira.

Seems to me that in your book, there's work that's "useful" and work that's not. Please elaborate.

(Nani kama mimi??!)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7486446.post-1134125119444078712005-12-09T05:45:00.000-05:002005-12-09T05:45:00.000-05:00I am still to meet a stay at home full-time-with-n...I am still to meet a stay at home full-time-with-no-other-activity-on the-side Kenyan or African woman for that matter. If they stay home they do something apart from looking after little darlings and cooking dinner.
So the song continues
"My mother works.
My mother's mother worked.
My mother's mother's mother worked.
and so on ad infinitum.

Pre-Colonial Africa: the entire family unit worked
Ante-bellum USA: the entire race worked.
Post Colonial Africa: We're still working."

This is not an issue I even think about. I am working as long as my bones allow me to and God help you if YOU the man want to stay home, not in mine. Choice of whether to work or whether to stay at home and raise the kids. And don't kid yourself; raising kids and taking care of the home is a full time job ergo most working mothers have to have help/daycare or they burn out.

Now, would you say a man who trained as a stockbroker and worked for five years at a top Wall Street firm and then realises his passion is making jewellery or designing shoes or running a mountain lodge isn't "putting his education to good use"?

Hm?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7486446.post-1134013342881536262005-12-07T22:42:00.000-05:002005-12-07T22:42:00.000-05:00Thank God almighty free at last..congrats enjoy it...Thank God almighty free at last..congrats enjoy it while it lasts!!!Spidey/Tatohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11608064744661858978noreply@blogger.com
