Archer's Ordeal, Humans Are Stupid, Women wearing Horse Hair, Skin Tone and a pic for the brave

I read Archer's post about how he suffered at the hands of some racist punks and it made me aware of how hostile the world still is. I have a new found respect for black South Africans for having to live in such an environment, it seems the dream of a free South Africa is still some ways off. I have also said that Africans who live in Europe (Britain excluded) have an extra portion of fortitude within them that I do not have. It is not an unknown thing for African students to be killed in Africa, for black people to get strange looks on the streets, to be denied service because of your color and for the worst jobs to be reserved for you.It is a shame about the factors that lead Africans to have to leave their countries and be second class citizens immigrants so as to be able to earn a living byt that is another post in itself.
I am not saying that America is heaven but racism here isn't as pronounced and prevalant as in those parts of the world (it also does help that America is a country based on immigration even thought that is changing). In fact a whole new segregation based on money is used by people to separate themselves from people of color and the under class of their own race.

It seems amazing that despite the leaps and bounds that human beings have made in terms of knowledge and technology is that we have hardly moved in terms of how we relate to each other.Wars that have been fought over hundreds of years (Iraq,Israel and Lebanon) are being fought over and over again, slavery just takes on new and more horrifying forms (economic slavery) and oppression of different classes of people continues.
Someone once said that human beings are the stupidest animals on Earth because other animals pass knowledge down the generations which manifests in instincts that ensures their continued survival but we as human beings repeat the same mistakes and actions generation after generation. Looking at the world today, I believe him 200%!

I have always disliked weaves. I have never been a big fan of the deception that women have to enact in the name of beauty ie push up bras, corsets, fake eye lashes, padded panties etc. But the one that turns my stomach the most is weaves.Don't get me wrong, weaves look great and black women here love them! But I am a lover of animals and the whole thought of horses running around without their tail hair makes me very uncomfortable. Anyway on a serious note what makes me uncomfortable is the whole human hair thing, that's just plain sick! How do you take someone else's hair and attach it to yours and feel fine?!I mean that would be like me taking the hair after a dude shaves and using it to make sideburns for myself.Damn this is just some sick ish (Link from Makanga)!I don't know if you recall those horror movies of them days about people receiving eyes or hands from madman and murderers and as a result getting startling visions and chopping those near and dear to them to bits

I was reading a post on the KBW feed about the whole light skin vs dark skin issue. I know I am the last person who should comment on this because of my club darkness remarks but since I am not light skinned or alek wek dark so I get a pass (If you don't agree, you can eat a dick!). The worst thing that white people did to black people was to make them dislike their own appearance, the closer to white someone is; the more they fit in.Really sad I say.The extent to which people go to get this light skin is stupefying!I recall there is this chic whom me and my pals knew in high school, there was this other chic who used to get alot of attention from the boys and she wasn't really that light (I am tried to find the skin tone here but it takes too much time!) .
So this chic decided to out-do her and hooked up with some bleach. So she came back a tad bit lighter, but usually it is easy to tell natural lightness from that which comes in a bottle; so we knew something was up.But when we knew she had used some dubious products is when someone pointed out that her legs were 2 degrees darker then her legs, so instead of getting the attention she wanted peeps used to laugh at her after looking at her up and down.Sad thing though is that no-one ever told her.
Some women have said that they bleach so that they can get men to marry them, I do agree that it is wrong for men to prefer women due to their skin tone (other factors being constant) but on the other hand as a woman if a man dates/marries you because you are light doesnt it mean that it is your skin tone that he loves as oppossed to you?
In fact there was a story about this lady who used to use a dangerous mixture of skin lighteners aka mkorogo to keep herself super light. Due to her alluring skin tone she got married to this rich arab man, when due to health reasons she stopped using the concotion, she became darker then she was before she began using them and the man left her. Worst thing is the way the media sells the light as beautiful gospel to us, and they do it so well that we end up internalising it.

I try to be tolerant and all but despite whatever your dressings stands for, you should be considerate about the mental health of those around you (plus the fact they want to keep their lunch in their stomachs!).Look at this if you are not at work!God-damn that was some sick ish!

Atleast Me I read first. Devious just comes to book!!!!!

Ok.. Weaves..Wigs.. zote... It is hard work to have ur hair looking good 24/7 and I shall take help where I can get it. As for human hair, ask me when I start making the Gs to be buying human hair......

As for the skin tone. I am so with you. I dont how people have been able to maintain the misconception that light skin means beauty. I read that post on Mshairi's and I shook my head at how people have been blinded by that message.

LOl.. I saw that pic at Crunktastical and I almost DIED.... LMAO.... Shave, wax.... damn HOW DO YOU COME OUT OF YOUR HOUSE LOOKING LIKE THAT?? [I had to put caps to stress that matter]

I've had my hair a dozen or so times in weaves, I think it looks modern and clean depending on what type you have done, people pay thousands of dollars to get them done here. Kenya is fortunate weaving is still relatively affordable. It looks cool, so long as you maintain it nicely like with any hair.

Well, if you're wearing a silk tie, that's made out of silkworms. Wearing dead insect spittle to other human hair, you get use to it.

? money sees no colour. Respect sees no colour. Integrity sees no colour etc. Like with anything, it could be used as a political tool but that doesn't mean it's anything personal. That's an issue with the person's insecurity, no amount of hydroquinone will fix that. In the case of the Arab, it was her anxiety that put him off. A healthy self image is what makes us humans attractive.

@ devious one
First ndio, lakini have you read the post?
@ mdkims
My command of the english language is far too inadequate to frame the issue accurately but thank you for the vote of confidence!
@ movie buff
Congrats!I dont mind things like braids and haircuts lakini human hair is just plain gross!
I think as regards the skin tone issue, it divides us; the dark versus the light. If a light skinned person tries to tell a dark skinned person not to use skin bleach a major tiff ensues!
As regards that pic......there are some things the human mind isnt meant to experience!

Anonymous said...

@ Anonymus
I hear that having your hair in weaves does no good for it.How true is that?
I don't do silk but it's on the same par as wool which is sheep hair but nonetheless the human hair thing is just depraved!
I do agree that confidence can overcome alot of perception issues because if you anchor your confidence on one thing, people can see and feel your insecurity!

@ Buff...( insert mvaite accent ) wheni yopu ndistambu the hornetis nest, expecti to mbe stung withi venganci !!!

Nimesoma, as for the human hair and Black Beauty having its tail feathers chopped, oh well, as long as the animals ar enot harmed in the production of making weave Black No.2....do U see us chokozain U guys with your tupees ama the blue pill known as Viagra ?? and toupees are made from human hair and those contraptions will scare the bejeezuz out of you if they decide to part ways with the poor fella scalp.

As for the mamas who abuse Ambi ro whatever skin lightnening product thats out their in the market...may they suffer whatever consequences the products pose...thats what they get for not appreciating what Sir God gave them !

Ease off on the mamas with nywele bandilia, me being one of them coz I happen to have braids, U need to be ingiliaing them peeps who wear contacts that are not genetically possible to give them that eye colour.....I saw some mama who was as dark as a sunburnt Dinka cow herder with piercing Paul Newman like blue eyes < nini hii ??

off to go sting Buff !

Aco ebu tell Devious to vacate my spot! Unless there's sumn' going on that you need to fill us in on!

Anonymous said...

@ devious one
The weaves made out of nylon I can overlook but the mambo of human hair is utterly disgusting! As for toupees the ppl who wear them are white folk not us black men who will just shave clean!
You talk about viagra but you seem to forget the pill,HRT and all the other chemicals women put in their body on a regular basis.
Sound of Devious One's glass house breaking after she threw a stone from the sitting room
there is nothing wrong with braids but I agree with you that contact lenses need to match your skin tone!Buff will deal with you!Be careful!

Padded panties are a beauty accessory? I thought only that Spidermad..n dude pranced around in them!

There are some nutjob mamas who leave their weaves longer than forever...then they try to scratch those crusty-ass contraptions back to life..i mean..back onto their heads...that action will either cause lifelong visual trauma or desexitize one forefa!

Bleach...there are those quacky fala s in TZ who use a mix called "mkorogo" or something...bleach, ash, satan's toenails and a hint of retardando..eish...

@ Aco..pill is to keep unwanted pregnancies at bay...HRT is for women going thru menopause, who have PMS/Jeffrey Dahmer?Idi Amnin/ Infamous Moi's temper tantrums and will chinja U in a minute and go watch Oprah wehn done without even batting an eyelid ( blod and all still in their hands ) those two pills you mentioned are for medicinal purposes...the blue pill on the other hand is to fool 85 yr old men that they can still roll in the hay with the best of them !!

Two diff things here !

@ the.hanyee
Padded ngothas are to give a badonkadonk to mamas who are bila.
I have seen a mama ressurect a weave, damn it was a sad image!
As for that mkorogo stuff, it's pathetic how peeps destroy their skin for beauty's sake.Just retarded!
@ Devious One
I dont have time for research but the blue pill is made for people who have erectile dysfunction meaning they cant get it up while HRT is for mamas who dont want to go through the natural menopause cycle.I am sure if I look around I will find other things ie dem diet pills you women love!
Same thing, people trying to fool nature!

CiikuMrsBabes said...

LOL Boo of mine.. I also read the padded panties line and did a double take. But I assumed he meant padded bras. Which by the way, come in very handy when its cold and u dont want ur nipples showing. IM JUST SAYIN!

Anonymous said...

@ movie buff
There are padded ngothas too!It just aint the bras buff. Not everyone is well endowed downstairs you know!

Aco am with you on the weaves, though in my experience jamaas love that whole weave + make up mess. Did you know that in the absence of ambi and other skin lighteners you can use the liquid from transformers (yes, the elec transformers down the street)? I would have loved to be there when this discovery was made. Ah humans... we use our intellect on such strange things...

Anonymous said...

@ Rista
I won't deny that weaves and make up make chics fly.But this mama wont have them on full time, so when you are with her at home she looks like a boot but when you go out she looks sawa.I would rather a mama with okay natural looks then a mama who looks great with make up and then whack bila!
Damn!Whoever made that discovery must have been bored and desparate!I wonder if they lived through it?

CiikuMrsBabes said...

I swear I am yet to see a chile rock a padded underwear... LOL... Damn.. thats messed up!
Why dont people rock what God gave them! [weaves and wigs not included]

Anonymous said...

@ Movie Buff
I haven't seen a mama wearing them but I have seen them in a catalog.
Why can't people rock what God gave them?Weaves and wigs included!

I should have asked this on Mshairi's blog. If I'm attracted to light skinned women, does it mean that I'm discriminating against darker skinned women in a way? I'd hate for someone to bleach their skin and damage it with the belief that it will make them more desirable.

Anonymous said...

@ Archer
I think if you are attracted to light mamas irregardless of looks then you are discriminating but if you are attracted to pretty light mamas then it's a preference.
In my case there are dark skinned chics who I like but more often then not the chics I like a lighter then me.So I guess it depends on how you see it.

@Aco: I don't prefer light skinned chics irregardless of looks. There are quite a number of light skinned gibenos + lotsa fwyne dark skinned honeys! It jst hit me that 7/8 of my previous chics were light skinned. We humans can be quite superficial.

We do live in a hostile world; so true that money also segregates people. So, you have really strong feelings about weaves! I think they're a brilliant invention, but don't believe chics should wear them 24/7. Things like make-up, padding, etc should just enhance looks. But, the fact is humans are so superficial and will judge you by appearance so chics go to extremes. Using chemicals to lighten skin is dangerous--such a shame that we (black women) would do this to ourselves. There are beautiful people in all shades of black. But the biases are clear: most of the beautiful black women in the public eye (at least in the US) tend to be light-skinned with caucasian-like features.

Kenyanchick said...

Some random thoughts:
First of all, Aco, I think you're trying to kill me. That picture? Did that woman really POSE for a picture looking like that? (And leave the house, and walk around...?) And who's the other chick? I mean, they can't be friends because friends don't let friends walk around naked.

Weaves: don't like them either but looking at the tired, sad looking mamas they come from made me dislike them more.

Oh, and about HRT? One of the most prescribed HRT medications (Premarin) is made from horse urine. I shit you not. Check

Kenyanchick said...

One more thing: the skin lightening issue reminded me that in Uganda in the late 80s, early nineties there was an upsurge in 'bleaching.' The women would have the two-toned issue you mentioned: light face, dark knees. People started referring to this as the 'Pepsi/Mirinda' look. Cracked me up.

Anonymous said...

Weaves, wigs all good in moderation, like someone said before it is real hard work looking your best all the time especially in the hair department.
Skin lighteners are a no-no if you do not like the color of my skin shauri yako cos I happen to love it.
Now that naked woman needs to have her brains checked, tho there are people who will go up in arms about one having the right to wear what they want. In the privacy of your house yes but if you are going to traumatize the rest of us you shall forfeit your freedom.
Am just wondering why she is smiling doesn't she own a mirror?

Anonymous said...

Ala.....it seems KBWers need a chat room or forum. Not so Aco?

As for you D1....I didnt see you hapo kando...ebu rudi!

What happened to Archer is indeed a sad state of affairs.

Hair extentions in my books don't extend past braiding. Even that is done to a minimal. I dont think I will do it again any time soon, since I have dreads. I hate weaves anyway.....

As for that pic.....Thanks Aco. You have just made my day much more brighter (add a hint of sarcasim here).

I am currently reading 'Frankie and Stankie' by Barbara Trapido. It is about growing up in South Africa, for a white person against racism.
There is something about reading about south african literature, that gives me a sick feeling in the gut. How the africans were treated like so much shit and the mzungu ended up owning the land mpaka today. I mean, that country is too white it makes me sick.

Half 'n' half said...

Yikes!!! that is all I can say about the pic of those two eeeeeh, aaah aahhm chicks

Weaves?? are another story all together, it is the same issue with the skin lightening this, we have been "colonized" to believe that we need to look like the mzungu to be anywhere that is why we try to be lighter skinned and longer hair

Anonymous said...

Now, now, now. Just stop there. You can't go messing up about a girl's weave!!! We don't see no petrified expressions when the jamaa's loking at you like 'wow' coz of your weave! You can't have your cake & eat it guyz! And girls, we all know that jamaas are useless in the weave-identifying category anyway.

In Kenya, the 'human hair' weave is the 'horse tail' one. The kawa one is synthetic. I think I'm not economiccally endowed enough to get access to actual human hair. I'm quite frankly not sure I'd want to.

Halfkenyan took the words right out of my mouth. We're brain washed into thinking that light is better. Since 3/4 of the jamaas commenting here said they'd go for lighter chicks, where do you expect the rest to go? They've got needs too, you know. I guess until we have more kenyan proggies on TV for our growing kids, the cycle will forever repeat itself.

A stuffed ngotha is an interesting idea ...

I agree with you 200% light does not equal beautiful!E-pub is a good idea!
@ Movie Buff
Will be posting first thing in the morning!
@ Girl Next Door
Wsup gal! It's been a while! That story of financial segregation is a big thing now in the states!
I don't mind a mama wearing a weave once in a while but nowadays chics wear them so long that it messes up their natural hair!People usually use all those aides not to enhance but to substitute looks! But as you said we are very superficial as people! It's a shame that in the U.S public eye that it's the light skinned women who get the most attention.
@ Kenyanchick
Wsup girl!I looked at that pic and saw that I had to share it!Those people should be locked up!
I think if more people knew where their weaves came from they wouldnt wear them that much!
That HRT thing is just so nasty!People popping pills made out of horse piss!Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!
As for the mixed bleach bodies, they were always a hoot!
@ prousette
I agree with the moderation part!I do think that you can treat your natural features well enough so that you dont need to go around with make up all the time.
Skin lighteners unfortunately sell the dream of beauty and acceptance to mamas and prey on their insecurity.
I think the mami in that pic is smiling in glee knowing that most of us have been driven mad by that pic!
@ Mocha!
I do agree that a forum is muhimu!
Archers situ was sad and the fact that it happens on a regular basis is even worse!
Braids are sawa but as for the rest...I wont even start talking.
I'll try to find you another pic today!
@ POTASH
That book seems to be good reading.
I think any whites who tried to go
against the system must have had an uphill task.
I do agree the racism that black people face in their own countries makes me sick to my stomach!
It seems that in some cases the more things change the more they stay the same!
@ halfkenyahalfsudan
I won't even comment about the pics! But as per looks I think it is about time people stopped listening to what the ads and the TV are telling them because those peeps are in it only for the money!
@ hermione
Always good to have guests!
First things first it always makes me laugh the way chic put beauty before health. Is it worth your liver, skin cancer, retarded hair growth, alopecia just to be light and have a flowing weave?
Plus if you have had sisters like I have after sometime you are able to recognise weaves, so we arent that slow!
If you must wear a weave I think that a synthetic one is sawa but the idea of someone wearing someone else's hair is just plain sick!
I think there are still loads of dudes who date dark chics because not all kenyan women bleach but they still get dates and hook up.It's just a matter of having patience and confidence because character after a while always overcomes looks esp in my book!
But we do need to do something about programming and those damn ads!

Hey Acolyte, it depends on the hair type and weave. If you go cheap then it will damage roots, thin your real hair but if you went for example Spanish hair with this weave type.. forgot the name that can protect and strengthen your real hair. Those ones can start from $2000 and you get it readjusted once a month for $700. Depends on colour too, if you have blonde for example where they use Swedish? hair commonly, which is not easy to obtain, can go up to $10 000. In some salons they offer to buy your hair for so and so price depending on length.

Anonymous said...

@ Anonymous
Damn!It doesnt get any pricier then that!$700 per month, you ladies have it hard! This hair business gets more complicated the more I hear about it!
