Bah,humbug!

Instigator here again.Frankly I think that Christmas is a load of crap!Jesus must be feeling very uncomfortable on his cloud when he sees what has been done with the spirit of Christmas. It gets even worse when you are out here in the West.We have all these silly song and dance ads on,Coke has a stupid ad where polar bears and penguins are drinking Coke together (yeah like any bear is going to turn down some juicy penguin flesh for a damn coke!)and don't let me get started on the damn jeweller's ads ie Kays Jewwelers ads (show you love to here with a -fill in obscene amount of cash here).Exactly why should any man be required to show his love for a women by buying a diamond ring or some other piece of worthless overpriced price fixed jewelry?I hope the artificial diamond producers put these clowns out of business.
Then all of sudden this is when some people become conscious of the underpriviledged around them. This is when you want to give to the poor around you turkeys and toys, unless they can eat that turkey for one whole year and those toys can transform into jobs and housing all you are doing is lip service.Oh well you gotta be able to sleep at night after your spending spree, gluttony and drinking. As people here spend endlessly they forget that their are credit card bills that will have to be paid hence the large number of bankrupcies declared in January and all those drunkend and wanton trysts have consequence hence the large number of unplanned children born in August.
Oh well lest I be seen as a scrooge there are some excellent links to raise the Christmas cheer that I found here and here!

i hate how the same christmas songs are played over and over again - don't get me wrong, i don't hate carols. but my ears will bleed if i have to listen to "rudolph the red nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose!" everwhere i go and other irrelevancies like "get into the chritmas spirit." aaaaaargh! don't ask for christmas gifts, give to charity and continue to do so every month on the 25th. now that's christmas.

I feel you totally on xmas Aco - oh and those songs. We have the radio on in the office and I will tell you that if I hear "Last Christmas" one more time, I will start screaming. Here they have only like four songs of christmas that I have been hearing for the last 10yrs, that is madness.

And, yes, I dont want to start about the commercial nature of xmas... Just while reading this my colleague just turned around and went: I have all this xmas presents to buy, I will be broke by the time I finish... oh, and do they need any of that stuff that you're going to buy them? I even hate it more when someone buys you something you will never use in this lifetime or next, just coz its xmas - oh and they probably got it out of the dollar/pound shop...

This xmas, apart from the stuff I will buy for my family to take with me, I am not 'doing' xmas.

Oh, what about those xmas cards - stupid ones that you get bought by everyone at work that dont mean shit - just something with your name on - that was written without any meaning at all related to xmas... I used to buy work colleagues Christ/religious cards but i dont bother anymore - hence my always running out of this Godforsaken country at xmas :)

I will stop going on and on but I know that all that cheer for xmas goes into the pockets of companies, and not into the hearts of any of those overspending robots.

(you can see I am as passionate about the pretend cheer as anyone can be so if you are grouch, I am grouchee)

I do not mind the carols just a long as we stick to the First Noel and co nothing to do with reindeers and noses. The city centre is a mad house people are shopping like there will never again be another day to do so. Me, I do not buy presents for Christmas neither do I do cards and forget throwing a party. I take the time off and rest. If you want anything overpriced from me, shall we wait till you birthday at least then you will deserve it.

@ groucho
That is the way that things should be done even though I am sure it does not make you the most popular person at christmas...
